Apple Enters 5 New Hardware Categories in 2026
According to Apple’s 2026 product planning, the company is focusing on five different hardware categories beyond its current portfolio. While the company is expected to introduce more than 20 products this year, AI integration, home automation (IoT), and new form factors are at the center of the strategy.
Foldable iPhone and Display Technology
The foldable iPhone (iPhone Fold), known to have been in the R&D stage for a long time, is expected to be introduced this year. The technical specifications of the device, which will have a book-style design, include:
- 5.3-inch outer display and 7.7-inch inner display.
- New panel technology that minimizes the fold crease.
- Pricing at around $2,000.
Smart Home Security and Local Processing
Apple is preparing to enter the smart home market, which it had left to third-party manufacturers, with its own hardware. The developed security camera and smart doorbell will offer deep integration with the Apple ecosystem. The devices are intended to use privacy-focused local processing power for operations such as facial recognition and presence detection and to trigger automation scenarios.
AI-Focused Glasses: Apple Glasses
Unlike Vision Pro, Apple Glasses will offer a structure focused on AI and voice assistant functions instead of a full-scale mixed reality experience. The device, which will have a camera, speaker, and microphone array, will be able to process visual data by working in sync with the iPhone.
HomePod with Display and Entry-Level MacBook
The new HomePod Touch model, positioned as a home automation hub, is planned to come with a 7-inch square display, FaceTime camera, and widget support. The device is expected to include Siri’s current AI capabilities.
On the computer side, a more affordable MacBook model is being developed to increase market share. This model, expected to have a 12.9-inch display, is stated to be based on the A18 Pro processor architecture used in the iPhone series and to be offered for sale in the $599-699 range.
