OpenAI is developing a new desktop app focused on Mac users that brings together ChatGPT, the software development platform Codex, and the Atlas browser in a single hub. The app aims to let developers and professionals manage workflows from a single window by removing the need to switch between fragmented services.

The most important technical component of the all-in-one platform being developed will be an agentic AI infrastructure that can operate autonomously. These autonomous systems will be able to carry out complex tasks on their own within the system, such as writing code, debugging, or comprehensive data analysis, without needing user guidance.

It is known that behind OpenAI’s consolidation strategy is the momentum Anthropic has gained in the enterprise market with products such as Code Claude and Cowork. According to internal notices, as competition increases, priority is being given to core products and integration processes that will fully meet the needs of enterprise customers instead of side projects. The current mobile app is not expected to be affected by this infrastructure change in the short term.
