Apple has decided to diversify the AI infrastructure behind its voice assistant Siri. It is stated that by loosening its current integration with OpenAI, the company will offer users alternative large language models (LLMs).
This new architecture, expected to go live with iOS 27, will allow users to choose which AI model will process requests coming through Siri. The core models to be integrated into the system are listed as follows:
- ChatGPT: The current infrastructure provided by OpenAI.
- Gemini: Google’s AI model with ecosystem integration.
- Claude: Anthropic’s model with a broad context window and a security focus.
